A comprehensive plan to help end Albuquerque’s growing homeless and mental illness problem. An Initiative sponsored by the Greater Albuquerque Business Alliance (GABA).
GABA’s Homeless Initiative 2019.
The mission of GABA is to ensure that the City of Albuquerque and the non-profits that service the homeless will create an environment that is business and neighborhood friendly, and that they will make major changes to current policies that are negatively affecting our city. This group will help to improve the current practices by the city and non-profits. We will encourage real solutions that are good for all, including those that are in need of assistance, as well as our business and residential community.

It’s simple. The homeless and mentally ill are not being treated fairly and are left on the streets to fend for themselves.
While the Council and Mayor have over the years tried to do something, and are well-intentioned, the problem only gets worse because the services that are offered become a magnet for more homeless and mentally ill.
A full-service, comprehensive treatment facility outside the city for the homeless and mentally ill.
It will have housing, health care, mental health care, substance abuse treatment and job training.
Providers would be able to work together to deliver comprehensive care services at the new facility.
